*The estimated completion time given by the author is mid-June
What we bring this time is the first product of the 【Myth】 &【Five Poisons】series from TIGO, the fidget spinner 【Apophis】
Some thoughts from the author:
One body, two locks, these may be all the elements of a fidget spinner
Two leaves, three leaves, digging holes, slotting, hollowing, chamfering...
In an era of increasing homogeneity, the author hopes to create a unique fidget spinner that can be recognized at a glance even among many products.
Innovation is still the author's design concept. This time it is not to create a new structure, but to bring a new aesthetic.
Design inspiration:
When many products are constantly changing in geometric shapes, mimicry and pictography have become the design directions that the author focuses on.
When the author's brand was first established, he once designed a fidget spinner called [Starfish], expressing his love for Pokémon in the form of a fidget spinner.
This time, the author wants to continue the Pokémon theme and make a sky dragon--Rayquaza.
But Rayquaza is just too angular.
It has been deleted, deleted and modified countless times, but it is still difficult to balance the appearance and feel at the same time.
During an accidental revision of the draft, the author suddenly discovered that instead of being stuck in restoring Rayquaza's appearance, it would be better to remove the edges and corners and design a [Orochi] that is both rounded and aggressive.
After determining the design direction, the author began to revise and adjust it over and over again. After the sample came out, it was optimized again. At the same time, he also listened to the suggestions of many friends, and this is the final draft.
The origin of the name:
Before [Apophis], the serpent had several alternative names. The poisonous dragon "Viper" in Dota, the "Candle Dragon" and "Xiangliu" in ancient Chinese mythology, the world snake "Jörmungandr" in Nordic mythology, the Yamata-no-Orochi "Toro Tomo" in Japanese legend... ....
The name "Apophis" was finally determined because it has four meanings
1. Apophis, the Egyptian god of darkness and the archenemy of the sun god Ra, his image is a big snake;
2. There is a magic sword in the DNF game named Apophis, which was once a treasure coveted by countless players;
3. Apophis, also known as "Apepu", is one of the seven elemental dragons in the Teyvat continent;
4. The ruined star "Apophis" is a near-Earth asteroid that may collide with the Earth.
As a fantasy enthusiast, a former DNF player, and a traveler from the Teyvat continent who scolds and plays at the same time, I hope that the product [Apophis] can bring a small "impact" to the EDC circle.
product description:
Apophis is a three-leaf top, with the main body in the shape of a snake's head, and the snake's eyes, nose, and mouth are restored at the same time. The streamlined design is both beautiful and ensures the feel of the dial.
The lock combines the elements of "snake" and "spade" and presents the offensive posture of the Cobra King. It is a design that the author is very satisfied with.
Both the main body and the lock have a large-area hollow design, which can be adapted to 8mm beads. There are slots in the hollow, which will catch the beads when rotating, thus preventing the beads from contacting the lock and preventing the speed from slowing down.
After testing, when no beads are placed, the bearing sound is very clear.
After putting in the zircon beads, the sound is slightly smaller, but there will be crisp feedback similar to a top-opening top when turning and stopping.
If you replace it with tungsten steel balls, the impact feedback will be stronger and the impact sound will be crisper.
It is highly recommended that you play with tungsten steel balls.
In addition, some friends are worried that the hollows in the locks are too large, which will hurt their hands when they pinch and hold them. During the actual measurement, the sample did not irritate the hand. At the same time, the final large-scale product has appropriately adjusted the hollow area to ensure a comfortable hand feel.
Size parameters:
Lock size:
Many gyro players like to mix and match the main bodies and locks of different products to create a new DIY feel and gameplay.
In order to give everyone a clearer understanding of whether Apophis’ lock (hereinafter referred to as “Snake Lock”) is compatible with other products, I would like to propose a parameter called [lock spacing] here.
The lock spacing is actually the height of the center column of the lock plus the height of the steps on both sides when assembly is completed.
Theoretically, a set of locks with a diameter D and a lock spacing d can be used with any gyro body within the D range and with a maximum thickness less than d.
For example, the diameter of the snake lock is about 24.5mm, the step height is 1mm*2, and the thickness of the R188 bearing is 4.762mm, the lock spacing is 6.762mm.
As long as the main body of the gyro is within the locking range of 24.5mm and the maximum thickness is <6.762mm, it can be adapted to the snake lock.
Overall specifications:
Rotation diameter: 54.5mm
Locking diameter: 24.5mm
Body thickness: 9.5mm
Overall thickness: 11.5mm
Bearing: R188, an additional bearing is included
Bead insertion: 6mm~8mm, 3 red glass beads included
Weight (estimated, excluding bearings and beads):
Stainless steel 56g
Brass 60g
Copper 63g
Zirconium 46g
Customized 95 tungsten 103g
